Milia

Milia is caused by the overproduction of keratin beneath the surface of the skin. It is suggested this could be due to damage to the sweat glands after skin damage. In the example of newborn babies blocked sweat glands can cause this. Our production of cells will slow down as we get older making mature skin more susceptible to milia.

Milia are not contagious and are not harmful, However they may make some people feel self-conscious about them, especially if they are located in a visible area of the skin.

Milia can take a long time to disappear naturally, but we can professionally remove them through a simple treatment.

Skin Tags

Although they may be unsightly, it depends on where they form as there are no real health concerns caused by skin tags. They are very common and can form anywhere on the skin. They are most commonly found on the eyelids, neck and armpits.

Moles

It is important to have any unusual lesions checked by a medical professional to ensure they have not changed form over time, a benign mole or beauty spot is unlikely to pose a health risk. Moles will typically be round or oval in shape and are often symmetrical. Whether it’s flat or a raised mole, they tend to be just one colour, often brown or skin coloured, and will have clearly defined edging unlike more sinister spots on the body.

Warts

A wart is small with a rough texture and can appear anywhere on the body. It can also look like a solid blister or a small cauliflower. Warts are caused by viruses in the human papillomavirus (HPV) family. The appearance of a wart depends on its location on the body and the thickness of the skin. Palmar warts appear on the hand. Plantar warts affect the feet. People with a weakened immune system are more likely to have warts.
